Gareth's Carousel

A gift for my best neighbour. A inspiration that struck when Jess told me that she is going for the carousel class. My trial and error project that went prefectly!

The cover and back of my carousel album. Chipboard cover proudly sponsored by Jess. I used the technique of covering chipboard up with pattern paper learnt in Pooi Pooi's class. Open it up and it is a full carousel full of Gareth's photos and little monsters.

The spine which I used gold MT tape to cover (compliments from the rak I won from Pooi Pooi). Ro helped ink Gareth's details onto the journalling card. Love my sewing on the album using Sew Easy which I bought on Thursday.

This is how the top and bottom should look like when closed. All pleats neatly folded in. Even the bottom frills would curl in nicely under the folded semi-circle. Oh my! I really love what I've done! LOL! May I should do one with a garden theme using the many Websters papers that I've hoard!

My Promise...

A Layout using the sketch from Jana Eubank for MWL's Scrap Dare #4 hosted by Piradee. Using pp from Webster's Pages - Seaside Retreat (hide & seek) and also Basic grey's Cappella (Dolce).

Love my glitter thickers.. Ro says it's an ugly shade of green but I love it!
Slight variation to the sketch. I've placed 3 additional small photos.. It doesn't look complete without them :)

Look at the little sea-horsie.. Cute isn't it? So suitable for this photo of ours. Our pre-wedding photoshoot at Deasaru. Oh, did I mention the lace trim that I bought from MWL? Gorgeous shade of brown!

With loads of space for journaling, I made Ro help me copy the wedding vows that we are going to read out on our big day. Now I've a nice big wedding Vows LO to use on the actual day! Love this LO!

First Layout of 2010

The HandBurger. My food layout to document what is sold there and what we ordered. A mini joint effort with Rowan. New year new partnership!

Do you like this burger? Ro made it. He made it using scraps of different coloured cardstock and i glossy accent it to make it look like an embellishment. But later on I tried to outline it with black pen and it looks horrendous, so i had to re-gloss it to show the layer. Kinda happy with how it turn out.
I actually glimmer misted it green but it wasnt outstanding on the red background. So i tot to use a marker to 'outline' the words. Ended up super ugly so I coloured the whole title black.

Finally found the chance to use this edge studs swirl. Like it? just nice to frame the menu of the restaurant.
Splatter paint the background pattern paper with yellow paint to make the whole layout brighter. Especially love this cluster. Nice? Did it at the corridor late at night. Whahahaha..

Speech bubbles to show what we have ordered. Hand cut and hand written by me :)

PS: I've submitted this for MWL's sketch#1 of 2010.

Our first joint effort! Literally!

After some discussion, we came up with this layout! A true joint effort!

I'm proud of this layout coz it says to me, 2 big heads are better than one!

I bought the papers initially to do a layout on button but after flipping thru the photos on hand, ro suggested to do it on us and wow! the effect is good!

I copied the idea of others by cutting out the paper to have a 2d effect. Distressed abit of the edge to emphasize the 2 different piece of paper. Thank god Ro was the one to cut the papers, if me? the helicopter and aeroplane would most probably be missing.. kekekeke.. well, the clouds at the bottom was cut by me!

Picture of us at HK disneyland, almost flying off with pooh who was holding on to the ballon! Fly Away!

PS: Note the bus/tram taken by me at disneyland. Transportation's the theme :)

Love, Angie

2nd... Distresser...

21st Sept 09, we're back for our 2nd class at MWL. I initially wanted to go for 'Freshly squeezed' but it was fully booked and they no longer carry on with that class and thus, I settled for the newest class offered in Sept, "Bitten by the scrap bug". YES! WE ARE! We're bitten by the scrapbug!

All 3 layout's materials are provided and thus our layouts look very similiar. I chose my birthday picutures and Ro chose a mix and match of our photos.

In this layout, ro had to put his alphas on a white card stock and cut out before pasting to the layout to make them stand out coz it's on the polka dot pattern paper. I was spared coz there wasnt enough space for mine :P

We had to distress the papers before we started on this layout. Distressing means to use the ink pads to 'dirty' the paper edges. this gives the papers more emphasis and also gives it an aged look. Clean freak like me couldnt stand my fingers which got all yellow! and i felt it looked really dirty but after seeing the final finished piece, I'm hooked! one of the classmates really dirtied her layout totally and it looks fabulous! her layout packed a punch, very outstanding!

See the dirty edges of our layout? these are made intentionally by us using the distressing inks. This workshop taught us how to make use of complicated pattern paper, cutting out the flowers to match. It also taught us how to use the blings (diamonds) and the sticklers (glitter). Yummy Yummy!

I bought all the materials needed recently! kekekekeke...

Our very first class..

After much pleading, I finally found a scrapbooking partner! Ro finally granted me my bdae wish and started our scrapping hobby!

On 8th August, we went to Plaza Singapura, Made with love for our basic scrapping class.

Titled 'Just getting started', it taught us some basic techniques, like matting of the photos, the tearing techniques, the different type of glue to use, the use of brads, eyelets and the placement of pictures.

Here's our very very first layout. They're simliar coz the materials were provided.

Ro's layout has a blue button and mine pink. He was teasing me that my layout is like me, prim and proper, all straight.. :P

After completing the first layout, we were told to roam around the store and get a set of thickers (alphas), the cardstock (the background piece of paper), 2 more pieces of cardstock for matting our photos (to paste our photo on), and a patterned paper to decorate. I chose a round pattern paper with cute ladybud on them. Ro chose stars! Both our layouts are on our hk trip as the pictures were prepared by me. I was thinking of doing just an album on HK but Ro thinks otherwise. In any case, he doesnt have a choice as I was the one who went to develop. Kekekeke..

I got really excited coz it felt really really good to be able to pick things off the shelf and not having to pay! All included in the price of our course, $35/pax.

When we were completing our layout, the teacher gave us some decorative accessories like the star brad and buttons on ro's layout, and the flowers and dew drops on mine. That got me hooked on the flowers! I likey!

Both of us went home happy. Although ro was the only guy in the class, the teacher made him feel at ease and catered to a more manly layout not like mine all flowery.

I can predict, More class to come!

Love,

Angie
